How to use
A must-have sweet from the Middle East, maamoul is a delicious shortbread cookie traditionally made of a thin dough, filled by hand with a sweet mixture of dates, walnuts or pistachios. It is then delicately pressed in an engraved wooden mold, giving it its unique shape, and sprinkled with icing sugar after baking.
Very popular in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel and Palestine, this dessert is synonymous with family gatherings and celebrations. Many families and neighbors in villages meet before the Easter or Eid holidays to prepare maamoul.
Terroirs du Liban’s maamoul is prepared in an artisanal way by a local SME in the Phoenician region of Sidon, famous for its pastries.
