Since ancient times, figs have symbolized prosperity, peace and fertility. They were offered to training Olympian athletes due to their honeylike sweetness and dense nutrients. Figs are produced by one of the oldest fruit trees in the Mediterranean and they are entwined into the Lebanese culinary heritage. Our whole fresh figs are lightly cooked and steeped in sweet syrup to produce an intense deep-flavored treat. They are a flavorsome alternative to honey while offering a wide range of minerals. They can also add a surprising note to breakfast classics, like pancakes, waffles, French toast and hot cereals. They pair well with mature cheddar and goat cheeses. Whole syrup figs can have a great effect spooned over ice creams, scones and cakes. They are handcrafted by a small-scale producer in the west area of the Bekaa valley.
