Sea Bream Tajine with Tarator

Difficulty: Intermediate 

Preparation time: 30 mins

Cooking time: 20/30 mins

For 4 to 6 people

 

 

Ingredients:

 

  • 500 g sea bream, cleaned and cut into pieces
  • 500 g chopped onion
  • 1 tbsp salt  
  • 1 tbsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 3 tbsps lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp frying oil
  • 1 bottle sesame sauce (tarator) 

  

Preparation:

 

Preparation of the fish:

  1. Season the sea bream pieces with salt, pepper, cumin and lemon juice.
  2. Heat the oil and fry the fish pieces until golden. Set aside.

 

Preparation of the vegetables:

  1. Fry the vegetables.
  2. In a frying pan, fry the onions until golden.

 

Assemble and cook:

  1. In a tagine (or ovenproof dish), arrange a layer of onions, then add the fried fish.
  2. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 20-30 minutes.
  3. Pour the sesame sauce over the top to cover.
  4. Serve hot.
